Synthesis of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) MIL-100(Fe) functionalized with thioglycolic acid and ethylenediamine for removal of eosin B dye from aqueous solution

Abstract The interaction of eosin B dye from aqueous solution with MIL-100(Fe) and functionalized metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) is reported in this study. was prepared thioglycolic acid (TH) ethylenediammine (ED) separately by incorporating the thiol (–SH) amine (–NH 2 ) group functionalizing agents into open metal sites to obtain acidic (TH-MIL-100) basic (ED-MIL-100) forms MOF respectively. Characterization MOFs done melting point analysis, elemental spectroscopic techniques, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powdered X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis. adsorption experiments were carried out at different conditions such as pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, temperature, initial concentration estimate optimum maximum capacities. Adsorption capacities observed increase order ED-MIL-100 < MIL-100 TH-MIL-100, while TH-MIL-100 most effective removal process due acid–base between alkaline medium solution. Langmuir Isotherm seen fit well data obtained for all three materials studied, processes followed pseudo-second kinetics. This study, therefore, indicates suitability functionalization towards improving its capacity.
